    Ls2 Cam For 5.3

Hey wuz up guys new here? I put in a ls2 cam out of a 2005 gto in my 2003 5.3 do i need to change my timing cover over to the one with the cam sensor in the front and change over to the ls2 cam sprocket also? Because my truck is running fine with it but once in a while it will not want to start as if there was no spark too it and it will back fire.

This system doesn't need the CMP to run but it does need it for sequential firing position so you will get an SES light and extended cranking when the CMP system is not functioning. Yours is not. Not sure what has to be changed to make it work.

why couldnt you just use the ls2 cover becuase thats where the pick up is and just extend the wires that go to the sensor to make it to the frront it should work the same right

First off is the cam a single center bolt or 3 perimeter bolts. If its the single then you are stuck with a 4x reading wheel on the cam, if thats the case it will never read right. Unless you purchase the Lingenfelter coverter box. If its the 3 perimeter bolt cam then all you do is bolt on the LS2 cover with front sensor, extend the cam sensor harness from the rear to the front and switch wires A and C. Also the front LS2 cover has its own 6'' harness on it, that will have to be removed, the plug will not plug into the harness extension but it will plug directly into the sensor.

Thats the information I was looking for. 2 pulse for Gen3 3bolt cams and 4 pulse for Gen4 single bolt cams.
See my truck data in the "My Garage" section here... http://www.ls1truck.com/forums/my-ga...tml#post191709
