u will need new u bolts, and some way to position the axle on the springs with out it being able to move...and you will have to notch the frame....

i had a buddy try this and it turned out really bad...hed did it to his brand new 06 crew cab and now he is gonna have to back half his truck or something cuz his frame is fubbard cuz the notch didnt go so well....and yes u will need lowered shocks....just spend 250 or whatever it is for the kit and save yourself a huge headache and possibly even some money in the long run!!!

did it on my 86 dodge, because a 4/6 drop for it runs about $900. I cut absolutely everything off the axle (shock mounts are part of the spring perch on those trucks), got some universal spring perches for a 3 inch diameter axle, 2.5 inch wide spring, some spring plates and u-bolts for a 98 f-150, mocked and bolted it all together set the pinion angle at -2.5 degrees and welded it solid. Shock mounts I did it Chev style with one in front of the axle and one behind just cut the mounts out of 1/8 inch plate and put it together. Got about $100 in it.
