Used Search and still need help

Hey guys, first post and I have some questions about a big milestone in my truck's life that is coming up.

I've secured an '07 Cadillac Escalade ESV with a 6.2L and 6L80E trans. I know about the obvious adapter plates and such, but what I'm worried about are obviously the electronics.

I'm not sure if I will be able to retain my stock gauges, A/C controls, steering column, shift linkage, and other bits.

The truck that all the shiny/fun stuff is going into is an '85 Silverado that already sports its fair share of work, and the last thing I want is to have to spend 6 months chasing electrical gremlins and hooking up O-scopes and logic analyzers to find issues...

Any source of information on this swap will be useful as I'm scared and alone in this.

I had Nelson Performance Rework my lq4 harness. It may seem daunting but its plug and play. little is used from your exisitng harness, and what is used can be traced down with a chiltons and a flashlight. I used a 91 suburban gauge cluster, for the speedo control. There is a diagram floating around here of the correct connections that need to be repinned.

I also went with a lokar flex cable for the gear selector. The room was tight and it was the easiest solution.

I dont know if you plan on staying with the wire throttle body. but thats something you will need to decide. If you dont then you will have to wire in the TPS and IAC. just tell whoever makes your harness.

I found a company called Speartech that really seems to know their stuff. They also have experience with the 6L80E and the 6.2L I just picked up.

I'll be talking to them alot more over the next couple weeks to make sure I know exactly what I want and then they'll be making me a custom engine harness.

I'm gonna have to figure something out on the tranny linkage and mounting the Escalade pedal. Aside from that, the fuel system has me perplexed. I want to keep dual tanks, or at the very least the fill points on both sides.

Do you guys know of a way to run twin tanks with a fuel injection system?

Speartech make road racing cars and custom fuel injection systems. I'm sure they're a good source.

check out currentperformance.com and call Jared, the guy knows his ****, I've seen a ton of trucks with his work and never heard any complaints. I have heard from alot of people that he is less expencive too. harness is usually 700-800. might be less for your older truck.

I'd thought about going to Current for my set-up, but they seem to specialize more in S10's than anything else. Speartech is a more all-round type of deal. That's not to say that Current Performance wouldn't work, but I believe that dealing with Speartech may be a better approach for me after looking at some of their projects and builds.

When we do my room mate's S10, we'll be going with Current for everything.

Also, found out this morning that my tranny (6L80E) is set-up for AWD. Anyone know what it will take to convert it to 2wd?
