hey guy i own a 2002 ws6 with an ls1 and i love it but i need a truck for the winter and to mess around with and to tow with

i like the 88-91 style chevy 1500 4X4 pick-ups..they can be found cheap and think it would be a great truck to use for this

i need to know if there are motor mounts that are being made to put an ls1 into this kind of truck and if the stock tranny and transfercase can be mated to the ls1 without problem

i plan on runnin an ls1 with that edlebrock carb intake and the msd box
i think it would be a really nice setup and no need to worry about a computer...have enough of that crap in my 2002 hahaha
    thanks alot guys

    joe

I don't know why you wouldn't use the fuel injection since it gives more hp, torque and tunability. The carb kit won't pass emission testing anywhere in an 88 and newer truck. Motor mounts are available all over the place. Three members on this site make them or you can get them from www.hotrodlane.cc.

    thanks for the info

i could use the fuel injection but i want to try out the carb
i have an ls1 already with the injection and this would be simpiler to install

im not worried about inspection i can get that done at my boys shop no problem

    anyone know about the transfercase?

    thanks

Contact hotrodlane.cc for the adapters to use the original transmission and transfer case. That much HP may blow the transfer case to pieces but you were going to throw it away anyhow, huh. If you have the wiring harness and PCM you have the battle won on the conversion. Anyone with HPTuners for your year model PCM can disable the VATS for you or you could send it to Allen at NelsonPerformance and he can disable it for you for a nominal fee. He has done that for numerous people, myself included. I can understand going for the nostalgic look but I love the high tech look much more. I disabled the smog pump, rear 02 sensors and EGR. I had the truck inspected in December and it passed with flying colors.

I agree with RED making it a carb will make everything more complex IMO. I did a swap into a 91 1500 but its only a 2WD. I think someone did one onto a 4WD though so its possible. Allen's tunning is great I got mine done by him and he gives plenty of support after hes done. whatever you decide we can all answer some questions. Good luck!
    Had a 91 SB, Open diff, 3.08 gears, stock LS1/T56. 14.8@95.9...sold.
    Now, 90 C1500 350tbi/NV3500....just bought a 5.3...need T56, Swap parts.....
