    Should I put a LS1 or LQ9 in my 88 Chevy?

It has the 5.7 & 5 speed manual in it. Has 188k miles and is getting close for an overhaul.

Let's assume I already have the LS1 or LQ9, 6 speed trans, clutch/flywheel, & wiring harness. Would it be worth it?? What did you guys end up spending on your conversion? How about swapping out the gauges/cluster & using either the LS1 gauge cluster or LQ9 gauge cluster? And last, where's the majority of the expenses go on the drivetrain stuff (rear end, axles, driveshaft, etc)? Basically, what can I keep & what needs converted?

    Thanks!

Go 6.0L. They are cheaper and more abundant.

if it were mine it would have a 6L or larger in it already but with a 60e, never a manual shift transmission.

thanks everyone for your input. I already know a ton about Gen. III GM motors and what they're capable of but I'm just trying to determine how much the conversion for everything else will cost on a truck like mine.

A 6.0l would be alot more beneficial in the end.
