I agree the frame is taller....but so are the body mounts. Otherwise, the floor wouldn't be any taller from the frame (needed to fit the Allison).

I also never said it would not fit, just that it would require some extra work.

    Everyone calm down. LOL

I'll be the first to admit I know nothing.

midevil, I actually defended the BBC for you....

It appears you definitely have the ego and mouth of a dealer tech with a dose of immaturity on top. You are probably the kind of tech that calls TAC to set up a case before you even open a hood too. Scary to think what kind of information you have been giving out in this forum with your 2,900 posts to these young and impressionable guys that come here looking for accurate information. As Midevil1 stated, they think the more posts you have the smarter you are which is furthest from the truth. This is certainly not a very welcoming website for newbies so I will make this my last post.

Not everybody knows everything so there is no reason to come off half cocked like you do. You might be knowledgeable on the LS engines. I happen to be more privy to the big blocks and GMT800 and 900 trucks.

    Regarding the Avalanche

    1) 2002 – 2006 GMT800 platform 2500 series Avalanches had the 8.1L as standard equipment. The 6.0L was not even an option nor was the 5.3L.
    2) For the new 2007 GMT900 Avalanche the 2500 series was dropped all together along with the 8.1L. However, the L76 6.0L became an option.

Here are just a few pieces of information on the 2002-2006 GMT800 based Avalanche 2500 that discuss the standard 8.1L engine.

2002 Chevrolet Avalanche Performance & Efficiency Standard Features
    - Auxiliary transmission cooler
    - 8,128 cc 8.1 liters 8 V front engine with 108 mm bore, 111 mm stroke, 9.1 compression ratio, overhead valve and two valves per cylinder
    - Unleaded fuel
    - Multi-point injection fuel system
    - Main 142 liter unleaded fuel tank
    - Power: SAE and 253 kW , 340 HP @ 4,200 rpm; 455 ft lb , 617 Nm @ 3,200 rpm

    Another......

    Under the Hood
Available with rear- or four-wheel drive, the Avalanche 1500 holds a 295-horsepower, 5.3-liter V-8 that generates 335 pounds-feet of torque. The four-speed-automatic transmission has a tow/haul mode. Autotrac four-wheel drive automatically distributes power to the front and rear wheels to maintain traction. The Avalanche 2500 packs a 325-hp, 8.1-liter V-8 that yields 447 pounds-feet of torque.

If you don’t believe the websites above go see your truck sales people in the front office at your dealership and dig up an order guide from 2002 through 2006 and see for yourself.

BTW….even though the 8.1L was dropped at the end of 2006 model year Silverado/Sierra/Suburban/Yukon, the 8.1L is alive and well and still available in medium duty trucks, Workhorse Custom Chassis and marine (Volvo Penta & Mercruiser). Unfortunately, the Tonawanda, NY engine plant is scheduled to end production of it later in 2009 as they will be building the new 4.5L diesel. At this point, it is looking like another manufacturer will be purchasing the 8.1L engine platform from GM for use in medium duty trucks, stationary engines, marine applications and RVs. So it looks like we still have many years of 8.1L production to later swap into our rides. It is a great engine that is poorly supported in the aftermarket. I have another one going into a 1968 GMC project soon.

I found the same information. I must have been high when I thought there were 6.0 GMT800 Avalanches. At least I have the balls to admit I was wrong.

What I said about the experimental Av is true, as is the information about the body mounts. BTW, one could say a small handful were built with 8100's as hardly any were made in comparison to 1500's. That really isn't the point anyway.

I did not claim to have proven anything with 3000 posts, that was someone else. You have no idea what kind of mouth I have since we have never had the extreme pleasure of a conversation. Obviously you have no idea what kind of information I have given here. Like you, I am not always right. What I got wrong in this topic is insignificant to the topic.

I am sorry you do not find this the appropriate place for a "newbie" that's been a member for half a year but you did come off pretty stand-offish much like you accuse others.

I like big blocks and you won't find many people here that do. I like all the body styles as well. I come here to have fun and try to help. Sometimes I get corrected. I'm not sure I'm poisoning anyone.

Anyone that knows what TAC is and speaks of techs in the manner you do must be in (or were in probably) dealership management. Then again, that would mean you'd be respectful of the GMWCT status. That's OK too. I like my company.

I would suggest this topic be split, deleted, locked, or edited as I have helped feed the troll and take this topic to the ditch.

I know what TAC is because I worked the TAC line for a few years taking calls from guys like you when I started my career with GM in Troy, MI before moving to the field in the late 90’s. I am not a dealer grunt to gain such respectful GMWCT status like you. I am one of the people that guides you dealer techs when you get in so deep with repairs and get us in lemon law situations. You took the topic to the ditch trying to feed your know it all webego. You probably are a good tech as most good techs I have met do have egos to maintain. Nuff said.

Maybe…. Sometimes I wish I could retire. I am not even 40 yet so I have a many years left to go.
I have been to North TX many times though so we could have met. Friendly Chev and Graff Chev in Dallas, Lynn Smith Chev in Burleson, all over the rest of TX, LA, AR, OK, NM, AZ, CO. Pretty good dealers in that area. I pretty much only deal with class 5 though 7 commercial vehicles these days for Navistar as my product was spun off of GM in the late 90’s then later became a Navistar product. I walk a line between GM and Navistar, which is will probably get more complicated by the 3rd quarter of this year. If you keep up on the industry news you are probably up on that.

I used to attend Sharpshooters meetings in Dallas if you ever made one of those. You're not who I thought you were though.

Now back to regularly scheduled programming.
