    Suspension/Drop Questions

Here is my plan. I am going to completely rebuild the truck suspension, it needs it, and do a 4/6 drop. I am going to use all MOOG and Energy Suspension. But for the drop which company is better. I am leaning to McGaughy's, I have had a lot of recommendations and heard good things about them. How is the drop going to affect the ride? Right now it rides smooth, and I like it that way. I have never owned a lowered truck. I know the tires will play a factor in this. I haven't decided on the tires and wheels yet. I like what RedHeartBeat has on his truck, the Corvette wheels, but I will have 17" front and 18" rear. Or I may just stick with my 454SS 15" wheels. Thanks Art...

I take it this is for the 90'? With the 6" drop out back your going to need to notch the frame. Belltech, McGaughy's all make nice components. Spindles and springs up front and for the rear just do a flip kit. Your shocks in the back will be angled so badly that they will be deemed useless. If you can, make a new upper shock mount and get the shocks vertical were they can work properly for you. Once you get the flip kit installed check your pinion angle... then order the correct shims.

well i have djm and i personaly think it rides smother than stock height it upper and lower control arms i wouldnt do spindel and sprind personaly because if you stay with stock springs it will ride like stock where as new springs may ride a little rougher.

na i would go spindle and cut your stock spring 1/2 a coil. it will reide like stock depending on your wheel tire combo. and do the flip and Doetsch Tech Shocks. I have them on my wife's Colorado and its slamed and rides realy good.

DJM, i have the 4/6 drop lower control arms up front and flipkit for the rear. With doetsch tech shocks my truck rides wayyy better than it did before. Kit was easy to install too.

The best way to go for a smooth ride is bag it with airride stuff.

i Agree! i have a 5/7 drop and used DJM parts, rides pretty smooth but i would eventually like to ride on air. by the way if you dont already have the 17" front wheels and you are goin to use the 15" stock wheels with drop spindles the rim will rub on the lower control arm on tight turns, but you can grind the gutter lips off the edge of the control arm for more clearance. you love it when its lowered, looks awsome, handles better and easier to work on under the hood.
