    L92 heads on 6.0

I've been looking at LQ4/LQ9 motors and I was wondering what would be involved in putting the L92 heads/L92 truck manifold on a 6.0? I know the combustion chamber on the L92 is larger the the 6.0 head, so it would probably be better to put this set-up on a LQ9 since it already has a higher compression than the LQ4. That's about all I know.. I'm wondering would my exhaust manifolds on a 2004 5.3 silverado work on the L92 head and would this be a plug and play swap, just like the 6.0? Also, what would be a good cam with this set-up using stock exhaust manifolds?

truck dbw, do a search on my name or l92 head swap, i done this, i would go with the lq9. being i like compression, but the lq4 is no slouch niether, with a good mill you could have the same compression, cable driven throttlebody's i had to make my own brackets for the cable.not really a hard swap to do just have to have access to making parts. as far as the manifolds, they'll fit, but i would highly reccomend long tube headers..

I think all you need is the offset rocker arms and the intake/throttle body but someone else knows more than me.

correct, 8 off-sets and 8 ls rockers, i just used 8 off my other setup!!! def. a l92 intake unless you wanna go l76 or something.. then you'll def. need a custom grind cam

What are some of your other mods you have now? and/or future mods? If you plan on staying NA, have you thought about some 243's?

It's a little more to swap L92 heads and intake than just a good set of heads but I bet it's worth it. First off the intake uses a 90mm TB and it's a better overall head design than the other LSx heads. I read where a guy went from a Radix supercharger kit to ported L92 heads/intake and put in a better cam and gained several tenth in the 1/4. That's crazy going from FI to N/A and gaining. If I remember right he also had Patriot ported 317 heads with the Radix and a cam made for the Radix. I would definately go with the ported heads though.

Oh and I don't know where you get the L92 having bigger chambers. LQ4 and LQ9 engines (with aluminum heads) have 317s which are 72cc while the L92s have 70cc.

You're right.. I must have got the two heads mixed up somehow whenever I was writting this. Anyways, I think I have decided to just put a cam in my 5.3 and play with what I already have in my truck. Thanks for the info though.
