Thread: truck wont start

    Thumbs down truck wont start

i just finished my all my wiring and the truck wont start. all the relays are clicking the fuel pumps is working the injectors aren't clogged. if i spray starting fluid in it and crank it it sounds like fires 3 or 4 times and then nothing. i pulled the plugs and they're wet and smell like gas. however when i cranked it with them out i didn't see any spark. but every time i crank it it looks like a little bit of smoke comes out of the manifolds. im at a complete loss here i had vats removed in the tune. if i turn it on the the throttle body opens and closes like it should so that means the ecm is working right (its dbw). any thoughts on anything i should check im really at a complete loss here.

You sure you got all of the grounds attached right? That's usually the culprit with a crank but no fire condition after a motor swap.

I want to say that there are 3 on the back of the block and two on the driver's side.

hmm i only saw 2 coming out of the engine part of the harness and on near the ecm. i guess ill have to snoop around for some more. also besides grounds, the 12 volt constant and switched wires and the fuel pump is there anything else on the harness that needs hooked up

    Grounds...

Engine to frame, engine to battery, battery to frame, harness to engine, harness to battery. These computers are very "ground" needy.

there are 2 grounds on the rear of the engine and 1 ground close to front drivers side coming out of harness.
I'm assuming your not getting any codes.

There are actually two that bolt to the driver's side of the block down low. One comes from the engine harness, the other is the battery ground.

There's another one that goes there too. Like I said, battery ground and also one from the harness. Both go to the lower driver's side behind the p/s pump.
