Depends on what you want. LQ9 is a 6.0 iron block. LS1 is a 5.7 aluminium block. LQ9's iron block can take more boost, LS1 is lighter. Lq9 is allot cheaper usually. A pre- 2000 year Ls1 hp rating will vary, depending on if it was from a vette (345) or a camaro or trans am(305). The SS and ws6 had 320hp rating.
Post 2000 engines were better. 2004 gto had 350hp-365tq. LS6 blocks are about the same as LS1, but improvements were, windows cast into the block between cylinders, improved main web strength and bay to bay breathing.
Ls6 engines however were rated from 385-405hp. Depending on year.
LQ9 has 345hp-380tq. with a 10-1 compression ratio. Has coated flat top pistons, and decent heads.
I would go Lq9-Lq4 for you. Lq4 is better for boost.
