    Broken Exhaust Manifold Bolt .... NO MORE!

    Wooooo got it out finally, let my roomate, a certified GM tech get in there, i took everything apart, and put it back together, he did the welding.

    Basically the Bolt out wouldnt grab it, GM dealer said it needed to take the heads off to drill it out twice the size then coil it back down to that for 1200 F*ck that, so

    Basically he just built up a little weld, turned it out, like clock work.

    If anyone else has this problem, try it, it was completely worth it.

    broken bolts suck, especially those bolts always snap. Hows the new setup holding up? what did you do as far as a y pipe?

    i used the stock y-pipe. now that i have torn everything apart at least 3+ times, i think i am a fairly confident LS1 technician now, ahah, im gettn the true duals thrown on this weekend or next, gonna do dual 2.5" to chrome tips dumped infront of each tire, gonna be somethign different.

    haha I know that feeling. I was hoping I'd be able to use the stock pipe, mainly because I don't have the money to have the exhaust shop fab one up for me...btw what are you doing with yours after the duals? Selling? Take pics when you get that all done, it sounds like a sweet setup.

    well problem with my stock Y is that it has been shortened because i put cats in and had to weld them in, ill save the Y pipe, still have the stock manifolds just incase. Ill take some new pics and videos when i get the exhaust redone and the trans flushed. Gonna be good now that everything is back to 100%

    IYO are the high flow cats worth the money..they really aren't too expensive and what brand would you recommend?

    i dont know really, what makes me mad is that the high flows i wish i would have welded flanges too, so that taking the headers off would have been easier. so. i think i am going to order some and have the cats welded to the flanges or something because i have more exhaust leakage from that area now. Otherwise i got the header and egr leak fixed, but now i have more leaks and a new knock that wasnt there the other day. time for some seafoam and a new exhaust system, instead of this hodge podge bs im rollin with. I dont know if anyone has been searching on PT.net but there was a post about welding some Tubes onto your exhaust to get rid of the drone at hwwy speeds, looked pretty cool.

    You got lucky. I spent 2000.00 on a 6.0 instead of a repair to a 5.3 engine.
