Oh, I'd recommend pulling the gasket out and welding up the square flange. This is the worst flange I've seen when it comes to leaking. LOL Give it about a month...............but they do work.

That modification makes it almost like a longtube header. Put a collector reducer at the end and it would almost be hard to tell the difference. Racers used different lengths of pipes off the end of the open headers to create more or less torque, I'm sure that modification will have the same effect.

The thought of re-engineering my setup has been crossing my brain lately. Pushing the powertrain closer to the firewall would be better for front-end air flow (i think). Definitely works well with those headers (I like those!).
Nice progress. Post many pics when possible. Love to see others similar to (and better than) my mild mod.

Still waiting on tuner to get his arse over here. D-Day was supposed to be Monday, now it looks like Wednesday. I hope so, cause exhaust guy said he could do it this week if I get it to him.

matbe other people have asked the same thing, but I just started reading your post, first of all congratulation on your beautiful truck, it seems you have done a really good work on the engine swap harness etc. it is really nice, I have myself a 86 c-10 I just bought a 2000 vortec 6.0 to do the engine swap, I`ll like to know if you have any problem with the electronics, I mean the ignition key, or the sensors from the cats, or any issue that made the swap more difficult ?? I`ll apreciate your help, and again congratulation on your ride, it`ll burn those bf`s for sure

Could it be a large vacuum leak such as the brake power booster fitting or just bad intake gaskets? Maybe the intake fitting for EGR or PCV?
