    What do you think

Truck has been chiming the "Tighten Fuel Cap" and that has only happened on initial startup of the day, maybe every third day or so, and today it sets the check engine light, and the code is P0455. I have done a search for the 455 code and this is what I have found.

    Code: P0455
    Modules: PCM
Description: Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System Large Leak Detected

So what do you think, did my seal on the gas cap go bad?

Is there something like a line that goes bad on these trucks?

I plan to swap the fuel cap from my 2500 DMax to the 06 gasser, and see if it goes away since the Dmax does not get much use lately due to fuel costs.

I hope this was the correct place to put this......

You need to look at the vent valves and soleniods on the gas tank. These are the ones that will set the DTC to go off. Check the voltage rating at the pink wire at connector for the soleniod. It should be reading 12 volts or higher. Anything less than that will show a weak signal to the PCM--and it needs to see the voltage potential it when the vent valve is off or when the PCM tells it to be turned on. I think this issue is further than just a new gas cap. Your soleniods may be going bad. I would say it is either the soleniods going bad, or you are not getting the required voltage signal to the soleniod back on the tank...

I'm not sure if your truck has one or not but some trucks have a MAP sensor on the fuel pump housing that detects the missing or leaking fuel cap. The MAP sensor looks for readings showing vacuum or pressure and if neither exists it sets a code. If the sensor is bad it will set a code, also. If the fuel pump was replaced and the tank seal wasn't properly seated you will get a code, also.

their is a updated vent solenoid for you truck, when installing it, the solenoid is relocated depending on your year of truck, I also would go to the dealership just to see if they will replace it under warranty.

I spoke to a service dept, today and they said something along these lines, the guy was supposed to Fax me the Service bulliten that shows how to re-route the solinoid, and that it gets moved like 6 foot! and give the part number to the solinoid as well, but he has not faxed it yet. he says it is applicable to my truck.

Thanks for all the input so far, I am out of warranty, unless this falls in a 100K emmissions warranty? the truck is driven ALOT, and now has almost 90,000 miles on it.

I'm sure it will be covered under emissions warranty.
