350 vortec to ls1 or other L series

well im buying a 2000 chevy 2500 with a 350 and it has 226000 miles on it and is considering my options for a motor swap.
IS it that much easier to do a direct replacement or go with an ls motor or just get a built 454

Its cheaper to buy one that already has the LSx type engine in it. Step up to a model that has the 5.3 or 6.0L. You'll save many headaches and a lot of money in the long run.

Sounds like you got a great deal. For that money I'd drive the wheels off of it then throw it away when it blows up. If you insist on repowering the truck then do a 6L or step up to the plate and put in a 408 or bigger stroker engine in it for some serious pulling power plus decent mileage for a big inch engine. The 454 or an 8.1 will kill you on conversion costs plus fuel.

the easiest approach would be a direct replacement.

Need to add some smaller chamber heads and an auxilliary fuel tank, too. 8 mpg would suck unless someone else is buying the fuel.
