    Engine Arrived!

Well about 5 days ago my 36k 02 ls1 engine was delivered to me. The shipping looked like it arrived in great condition no box around it but it was duck taped and bubbled wraped to hell on a pallet.

After i took it home i unwraped it find that the valve cover was about 2 inches off center i could see into the head!! It looks like the engine ether fell on its side or was backed into very hard because theres some minor dents on the head the bent valve cover was attached to.

The engine looks like its in great condition. short block and heads look fine. Also rotated engine to make sure it rotated smoothly and it did.

What do you guys thinks? Do you think the fall did anying to the engine? Or is there something i can do to make sure its ok? Thanks Brandon

That sucks!! Shoot us some pics so we can tell how much damage. It will probably be fine as long as the harmonic balance or flywheel didn't see any damage. I'd try to get another engine or some of your money back.

    Pics

Here are some pics. I took off the heads and they seem to be fine. None of the bolts on the side that recived the impact were bent when i took them out. The only visual damage is the metal tips are mashed in on the head right below where the valve cover would meet in the pic. The other pic is the side of the block that had the head with damage. Other than that everything is perfect, harmonic balancer is fine and the flywheel was not attached for the shipping.

Even if the heads are damaged i wasnt going to use them i have some 243 and a ls6 cam going in it instead.

Then what are you worried about? Seems like this should be a good project. I was in the same boat as you except my cylinder was pitted so i had to take it back. But i got a better deal second time.
So is this gunna be N/A?

Put it tigether, just make sure and file off any raised surfaces that would cause a leak. Your call on the intake, there's a good write up on the LS6 swap.

If your going to get a tranny. You might as well spend a little extra dough and not have to worry about tranny problems. I would do the same w/ converters. A yank or a vigilante. On intakes, the 90 would be best im sure, just depends on how much you want to spend. Here's a few charts on the comparison between a few intakes.
