    Descreening the MAF

    What are the pros and cons to this..and what all does it do?

    Ive seen plenty and I wanted to research it and possibly do the mod...

    you have a tune, so dont do it... messes up you a/f ratio. And the screen helps steady the air for the meter to read... IMO and per allen, leave that stocker alone, and dont waist money on an after market MAF. they dont increase power, just make the readings bounce arround.

    you could switch to an i think its 85mm from a escalade.. but yea.. dont de-screen your stocker..

    Yep, unless your MAF is a physical restriction in the intake tube (I've heard they don't become a restriction until the 600+ hp area) there is no reason to change it or mess with it at all.

    U sure? My buddy bout a 85mm Granatelli and it was bigger than the stocker.

    All the MAF does is tell you how much air goes into the engine, and what temperature it is. Replacing it with an aftermarket one makes as much sense as replacing your coolant temp sensor with a "high performance" one. The MAF doesn't make power...it just feeds data to the PCM. Aftermarket MAF sensors are a complete waste of money.
