Could it have been the alternator all along, possibly, I didnt hear the truck before I started working on it or saw if he got coolant or anything else on it while we did the cam swap. What are the chances of an alternator going bad at the same time you do a cam swap? I would really love to know how you can tell what the problem was without hearing it yourself. Even one of the local engine shops told him they thought it sounded like a bad valve guide. To me the noise doesnt sound the same as it did before but whatever you can diagnose things through the internet and word of mouth you should start up your own performance shop you will make millions, but then again you cant manage your money so that might not be such a good idea
Wait why do you say I cant manage my money? I own a new house in a very nice area. Own more than 2 vehicles and my bills are always paid. where do you get off saying that? If you want to discuss something call me 214-853-0490. Also and valve guide cant go bad as long as you know what you are doing when changing springs. and a noisy alt. doesnt mean its going bad it also could have been the coolant on the belt, or the rear bearing in the alternator could have been hit when you were changing the valve train out. And I didn't diagnose it over the internet I had a friend there that explained everything to me. He didn't say it was the alternator, of coarse he didn't have to. A novice mechanic could have determined it was the alternator. You always come off as you have an issue with me, If you in fact do please call me and we can discuss it.

On patriot springs you have remove the valve guide seal to put the new style seat on, if there is a bunch of debris built up on top of the valve guide then it can easily become wedge in there especially after the motor heats when the tolerances get tighter therefore gaulding the valve guide, valve stem or both causing a squeeking noise from too tight of a tolerance between the two surfaces. You are the one who had to part your truck out and sell it a while back to move out of mommy and daddys place or so you posted. On the contrary I never had a problem with you until a while back, the first big instance I remember was your boy telling my you wanted my LS6 block and that I should PM you. I had someone local offer to come pick it up and and you hadnt said anything to me about getting the block from me so I sold it. You got your panties in a wad and proceeded to send me a rash of ****ty PMs over on pt. Second the original noise on daniels truck was not coming from up front on the accessories drive, he and I both climbed all over that motor and it sounded to be from the top end. There was no coolant on the belt when I watched daniel try to guess the routing of the belt How the hell would I hit the alt hard enough to hurt it while changing the springs, it would take a hammer hit or something to really screw it up. A noisy alt like Daniels most definately can be a problem its coming from one of the bearings, I believe its the rear one where the cooling fins are at, if not replaced it could sieze leaving him stranded and possibly eating a belt in the process. So please tell me how a noisy alt like his is of no concern. You have second hand knowledge of the problem with his truck, you werent there, I may not have the most experience on this board but Ive been around long enough and am familiar. Honestly I could give a **** less, you didnt see how nasty daniels motor was, I personally believe it was a valve guide issue after seeing the debris that was in his motor and how nasty it was, either way his truck is running and very good and thats all that matters. I dont care to converse with you via PM or telephone about our issues, I dont care to be your friend just keep your posts out of my threads or taking shots at me in any other threads and I will do the same.

no dip $hit I have lived on my own for over 8 years. I have had my own home for almost 3 years now. I now manage a broker/dealer and have another company that I have started. My finances are none of your business period! I parted out my truck because it was under the company and my father filed bankruptcy on the business and the trustee seized the truck. But of coarse that is none of your business. Please read above jack ass I never mentioned you in this thread and wasnt taking a shot at you. Get off your high horse and grow a few inches so you can get out of your short man syndrome.

I guess I might chime in a little. It wasnt the alternator squeek the first time. The sound is totally different. And Yes i did talk to precision machine and they said it was something in the Heads. I wouldn't have any one other than Cody work on my trucks bc he knows what he is doing. He canceled his vacation to Phoenix to come do my head swap, lost money on his flight and everything. So he obviously thought it was something really wrong. But hey its gone and the truck runs great.

ooohhh btw the alternater quit squeeking.

Good deal Daniel, I have a spare alt laying around collecting dust Ill bring up when I drop my truck off that you can have just in case. Its 105amp which I believe is what came on your truck since it didnt come with electric fans or a taurus fan from the factory

Danny and I havent gotten along on multiple topics, I felt him saying a head cant make that noise was a direct stab at me since he doesnt like me. He obviously talked to someone about Daniels problem it would only seem natural that they would say who all was there working on it, Danny says otherwise and it doesnt really matter. Ive moved on and hopefully he has too thats all it boiled down to.
