Robert, it really wasnt bad. First I replaced the incab tank with a plastic Blazer tank out back. I used an external high pressure pump to fuel it keeping the pump as close to the tank as possible.
The engine install went pretty smooth. I made my own mounts and just hung the engine in the engine bay and positioned it where I wanted it, it is as far back as possible and as low as it could go. I fabed up some pedestals and got them where I wnated them and pulled the motor back out and drilled and bolted them to my cross member. I am using stock ls6 exhaust manifolds because an article in car craft tested and said they perform almost as well as headers. I know others will disagree with that but my budget was tight. I would like some LT for it but am not sure I can get any to fit?
I am using the stock 4l60e and T400 cross member it all seems pretty slick. I will be pulling it out soon for a cam change and maybe some head work if I can swing the cash. And of course I had Allen Nelson tune it and as expected it runs like a scoulded dog...
It is a blast to drive but of course am ready for a change to more POWER. I would love a turbo or SC but I cant seem to find a sponser
I hope to make some changes this winter

Nice ass truck Dave. I usually don;t like yellow trucks, but yours can be the exception...
You mentioned that you were going to pull the motor for a cam change...why you pulling the motor? Doing a cap swap on an LS motor is freakin easy! Let us know when you are going to do this and we can give you some helpful, time-saving pointers.

Thanks for the compliment the yellow was just different it has some sunset pearl in the clear coat so it has a neat "glo"
anyway when I did the install I installed the motor as low as possible thinking it would help with the CG I dont know? but the truck pan is toooo low it is below my cross member quite a bit so I am going to swap a camaro pan in its place. I thought about removing teh heads and milling them a touch to bump the compression so I just thought it might be easier? I have not completly decided. I have the ls1howto cam swap printed and read all the posts on here and tech and you are right it does sound pretty easy. I guess unless I swap the heads I dont even remove the intake...humm maybe I will rethink.

Here is another pic I always like to show it off I have done all the work myself.

Most definitely...my current 82 Chevy is dropped, but not as low as I wanted to go. But, since running across an awesome deal on a 69 GMC and a free 5.3L, and $150 for the computer and harness, I decided I am done with the 82 and moving on to the 69. Here are a few pics of my 82 as it is right now...

Great! Looks like I need to find me a different trans to make it all easier...were you able to use the stock driveshaft? I know yours is a SWB and mine is a LWB, so may make a difference...

We are also meeting March 1 at the Steak N Shake on S. Glenstone for the truck club, would be great to have you there!

Yeah Dave, that pearlesque in the paint makes it look freakin badass! Good call on the paint job.

Yeah, you can install an F-body oil pan---it is much more shallow than the truck's pan...

Yeah, it is going tobe easier than you think. The write up on LShowto.com is pretty good, but it IS for the F-body cars...the process is pretty close to being the same, but there is 10X more room to work... The intake can stay on. Once you get closer to the cam install, make sure to ask us a lot of questions---and use the Live Tech Help box.

I sold the 82 today and picked up the 69. Towed to the shop where I work and will take some pics tomorrow and post "when I got it" pics. It looks a little rough right now because it is dirty from sitting under a few trees the past year and a half, but I will definitely keep you posted on progress with pics. Apparently the 700r4 won't work in it so I am going to find a 4l60 to put in it... I love this new truck! She's a beaut!
