I did a quick little search, but I didn't find what I was looking for.
This engine came with a drive by wire system, but I think I need to use a standard cable style throttle body. How should I go about doing that? Just have that removed in my pcm tune and cut the wires from the harness, or something different?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have to connect an idle air control circuit in the area of the TPS sensor wiring.

Well, I got some pretty good work done today. I started by assembling the old engine stand we had dismantled in the parts room. Then I proceeded to pull the automatic flywheel off and remove the wiring harness. I was amazed at how easily all the plastic clips came off and I only had one break. Once the engine was on the stand I removed the stock headers, seeing as they'll be tossed; man they are heavy for being as small as they are. Once all that stuff was off and out of the way, I pulled all the accessories (water pump, alternator, starter, ac) from the block.
That was about it for today, But tomorrow I should be able to get the GTO oil pan and all that on.

After some research I've decided to do away with the "drive by wire" business. It's easy enough, just buy an aftermarket 80-90mm Camaro/Firebird throttle body, extend my cable if needed, have the "drive by wire" stuff removed from the PCM when I do the PCM, then remove the "drive by wire" section from the harness.

Anyway, here's some pics of todays work.

Cool beans man...moving along pretty quickly! Doing the TB cable swithc shouldn't be that hard--sounds like you have it all ironed out. Try to add your previous posts to a sticky on the Conversions section or start a new thread in the Mechanical Section so it is documented there and not in the Newbie section.

^^^^Will do! I was talking it over with my father and I think I'm gonna keep the drive by wire setup. I think it would be easier than changing my whole harness. I also think I'm gonna have to run the ls1/ls6 intake for clearance issues. But I was wondering if I had to change fuel rails and injectors when I put the new intake on??
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

The injectors will work in the LS1 style intake but you'll need fuel rails. I'd go with the Professional Products fuel rail kit, very reasonably priced. The correct way to do it would be to install a set of LS1/LS6 style injectors since they are taller but you'll need the injectors and wiring adapters or pigtails to fit the LS1 style injector, plus stock or PP fuel rails. If you use the truck injector and the PP fuel rails you'll have to make modifications to the rail mounts for the lower height injector. The stock LS1 style fuel rail will not work with the truck injectors without modification of the crossover tube.
