The weak point is the tranny, so keep the mods to a minimum and you'll be fine. Sorry to hear about your 5.9...
To start off with, I would recommend doing a CAI and some exhaust work (if the wifey doesn't mind a little rumble. You could do some mid-length headers to improve the lower and mid-range torque numbers. A new muffler is needed too. You could also do some 05 stock e-fans and some pulleys. Besides that, a custom tune needs to be done as well. Contact Allen Nelson for all of your tuning needs.

On the subject of the CAI, I was kicking this idea around on another forum. Along the side of the radiator, on the air intake side, there is a flap that runs up and down the length of the radiator tank. It looks like the heat shield for the K&N will go past that. I think if you removed it, or rolled it back (as opposed to cutting it out in case you wanted to put it back) it would let the air straight in at the filter. There is also a thicker plastic plate on the back side of the headlight assembly, in front of the air box. If that was removed as well, I would think you would get a pretty good ram effect going on with the air coming straight through the front end and into the K&N heat shield. You'd need a filter wrap most likely because being that close to the front you might get water coming through when it rained.

So where in Idaho do you live? Idaho Falls? Pocatello?

St. Anthony, it's about 40 miles north of IF and about 90 north of Pokey.

Hmmm...I might have to look into this little mod... I shouldn't have to worry about water getting in since my truck is only driven on the weekends when it is not raining...

Okay, this ought make you smart asses in Texas feel good. These were taken the 10th of February. We've lost approximately 6 inches since then. This has been an extreme year. For the past 10 years we've had our full amount of snow the first of March and it has all been gone by the end of March. I can guarantee that ain't gonna happen this year. The huge pile in front of the house and by the Dodge (gasp, I used the D word) were piled up by the neighbor with his big Cat front end loader. My wife wanted the piles the street crews had left in the street out of the way. Great, now they're on my lawn. Whatever you want honey.

But only 1-2 days of it with minimal accumulation. But guess what? It is gunna be sunny and 90 FREAKIN degrees today! HAHAAHAHHAHAHA!

Has anybody told you lately you suck?;-) Needless to say, there aren't many slammed rides around here, mostly 4X4 and a lot of them are lifted. Enjoy it now buddy, we'll see who's laughing in August when your temps are hitting triple digits and your humidity is in the high 90's and mine are in the upper 80's to lower 90's with 10% humidity. Actually I've only been to TX once, about 18 years ago, Thanksgiving time. The in-laws lived in Sugarland, had a layover at DFW. I still remember stepping outside when we his the Dallas area, the air felt heavy.
