    Howdy,
I'm not sure if this is the right spot to be posting this topic, but here we go anyway. I've been searching the forums all morning looking for gas mileage info. I was suprised to see that most of the topics I saw people were maintaning at least 18MPG and at best mid 20's. So, my question is:

You guys all have these really nice, streamlined, 2000+ Silverado's. If I were to do an LS1/LT1 conversion I'd be dropping it into a 73-83 Chevy pickup. It's a giant square, like pushing a billboard down the road. What could I expect my gas mileage to be? In one post a guy had a 67-72ish chevy and he said he was getting about 18MPG.

I'll be buying a truck soon, and am trying to plan out the best path. I've narrowed it down to either getting a full size chevy, 73-87, and doing a swap (if I can scrape togeter enough money) or just say screw it all and get an S-10 2.2L 4 cyl and torture myself for the rest of my days.

I'm getting better than 20MPG around town and some highway driving. Mine is one of those giant square bricks. The LS1 made the truck a good bit lighter and the OD trans help with gas mileage. It also doesn't do too bad at the track.
