How to install 03 and up Silverado taillights

    Tools and Items Needed

    Dikes
    Screw Driver
    Wire Crimpers
03 Silverado Tail Lights With Harness
    Wire Connectors
    And a Brain

    1. Open your tailgate and locate the 2 screws holding the tailight in. Unscrew them both and pop the taillight out.

    2. Locate the harness and cut it with your dikes. Cut maybe 3 inchs down from the last bulb.

    3. After you cut the wires strip both the wire ends on the truck and the ones from the new taillights. Then with the Crimpers connect the wires According to there color. On my 04 Sierra there was 3 black wires which was a ground for each bulb the Silverado only has 1 so connect it to one of the 3 black wires the others u wont need.

    4. After the wires are connected put the wires back into the wire lume and wrap the lume and connectors with electrical tape.

    5. Reinstall doing the same method used to take them off and take a minute to appreciate your new look.

yeah you dont have to cut them..... but when i didnt have teh harness for my truck thats exactly what i did

for those who do have the harness, it plugs in right underneath the middle of the bed near where the trailor hitch plug is located....

I have a 2002 Silverado, I bought a set of 03 tail lights and the wire harness off Ebay. When I pluged the 03 harness into my truck the brake lights wouldn't work. The 03 harness has 5 wires and the 02 harness has 7 (2 more black wires). Anyone know how to fix this
