    Smile Newbie from Kansas

    Hello All -

Checking in from central Kansas. I joined to learn more about swapping and doing conversions.

My father has a '91 Chevy C1500 he bought new. Over the years it was mildly hot rodded with a cam and headers and all the typical Bell Tech bolt ons. Then it overheated and cracked a head and the truck ended up parked for the last 7 1/2 years.

He bought an LS1 take out from a wrecked Camaro and we are preparing to swap it in. I am hoping the experienced folks on this site will help us figure out the best solutions to problems we encounter. There are a lot of trucks on here with swaps, so obviously others have succeeded at this.

Our plan is to try to get the truck to be a balanced performance vehicle capable of running a 12.0 or better 1/4mile, run 140 mph in an open road race like the Silver State or Big Bend, and still be stock appearing and suitable for driving to cruise nights, lumber yard, etc.

Looking forward to getting to know some of you over the next year or so as we put the truck back together and get it back on the road. Any help or suggestions are certainly welcome.

    Welcome

Ambitious plans ahead of you. Start with a front mount turbo setup to go with the LS1 and you'll be on your way to solid 12s and maybe high 11s.

    Just Down the Road

I am in Wichita and my dad is out in the Derby/Rosehill area. It's good to know there are some local guys to call on for assistance if we need it.
