    want 2 put a ls1, 6.0, or 8.1 in 93rado

I want to put a ls1, 6.0, or 8.1 in my 1993 silverado but I don't what kind of problems i'm going to run into. nobody I know where I live (statesboro, Ga.)has done this before. People I know tell me to go back with a carb motor or stay with a stock motor. I don't want to do that I want fuel injection and I want power around 400 to 500. The truck I have is a shortbed fleetside with a 350 and I guess a 700r4 trans. The motor and trans. are original and run decent with 245,000 miles on, it nothing internally has been replaced. I want to know the best way to go with wiring harness, what would be a good trans. to use, what modifications if any do I have to make to my truck. Any pictures, suggestions, or websites would help.

    thanks,
    93rado

i think you can find all you need on this site...check out the stickies above, lots of good info for the swap you are thinking of, from harness, to pcm, to gm part #'s.

    good luck

93rado, I've put an 02 lq4 with 4l80e and an 02/03 dash in my 91. I live in Waycross GA and you're more than welcome to take a close look at my conversion! The engine / tranny is easy! Dash, ugh well lets just say not so easy...lol.

That actualy looks really good!! Was it too hard, or did you even try to change the steering collum? But still, damn good job!!!

Prolly the eaisiest would be the 6.0 lq9 w/ the 80e tranny, dont mess with the 8.1, not very many performance options with that setup.

Thanks a lot! No I didn't try to swap columns yet.

I fully agree with Max , the 6.0 4l80e is a walk in the park to install. Not sure how the 8.1 would be!

the 8.1 is a heavy motor. i was thinking about putting it into my 98 but i was told way to heavy for me. so i am doing the LQ9 6.0 with a 4L80E
