    the swap begins

started taking it apart today not to bad a for a few hours should have the 4.3 out by Thanks giving.

Well guys heres the progess since thanksgiving week got the motor and tranny out all in one if neone wants a 4.3 or a tranny off one lemme know haha. I got one of the motor mounts off and will be taking the other off soon i was surprised how easy it is to drop the a arm shock and coil... i definetly reccomend that over fishing in the frame holes... Also question when i buy my new motor mounts they will be mouted into the holes on top of the cross member instead of bending down the back right? you can see where the V6 mount was. Thanks all should be mailing the harness this week!

shes a 1998 chevy c-1500/ silverado what ever you choose 2wd 5speed with a 4.3 thats absoluetly tired! all my fault haha but used to get 3rd gear rubber so it really wasnt all that bad but im throwing a 2002 5.3 with a t-56 in it with a TR 220-220 112 lsa cam 7.4 pushrods 918 springs, ORY, Headers, CAI,probably a single 3 inch pipe to the back with a corsa muffler im thinking? maybe some magnaflow high flow cats, bored throttle body, and i think thats about it for the moment lemme know if there are any other suggestions or issues people ran into with these. the harness is going to nelson this week and i have the motor and tranny cam rods and springs will be next. i got all winter so no rush 8) thx for the support guys

Dang I am going to stay glued to this thread! I have T-56 and 5.3 in my garage as well hehe! Are you keeping cruise control? Do you suppose the tranny crossmember will need any mods? What clutch? Is your stock hydraulic system going to bolt up? :hyper:

okay well ive been talking to a guy named pat higginbotham who is also a member here who did a swap same as this only in a 92 i believe. i dont have cruise to begin with because mines a w/t and they are pretty much base model. As far as the crossmember goes he said that he moved his a little bit but told me to wait till the tranny and motor and basically in then adjust as needed. im going to be using a LS7 clutch which you can find at scroggydickins.com or something like that or ebay has them now and again as far as the master cylinder and slave hooking together that is my next project because i took out the master cylinder with the stock tranny and im going to try to find a way that it will connect to the t-56 withough splitting the line as patrick said this was the hardest part of his swap. So if anyone has insight on this please let me know before i screw myself over hah!
