I bought a used 2003 Denali 6.0L LQ4 from a dismantler. I purchased a new cam from Lingenfelter. I asked them which cam would work well with a Magnasun supercharger. They sold me a LS1GT2-3 Cam, new Corvette valve springs, Com Cam pushrods and timing chain. I then purchased a new set of GMPP lifters for LS3 and Corvette Z06 head gaskets. All the componets are for stock measurements. The cam is designed to work with the factory length push rods. I also ordered a new GMPP highout oilpump aswell. I then ordered all the factory gaskets for the motor from GM Parts Direct. I figured why stop there so I got a new sensors for the motor. (cam, crank, knock, and oil pressure sensor)
After I got all the componnets together I took the motor to the engine shop. I discussed the build with manager of the shop and I was give a price of 950.00 to put all parts in motor with a vavle good, new cam bearings and deck the block. After they took it apart. I was told it needed new botom end bearing and piston rings. So that up the price a little to 1300.00. I am looking foward to it being done. Ive been running the stock 6.0L out of a 2001 chevy 2500 for the last 5years but it had around 100,000 on it when I put it in and has had the infamous piston slap sense I put it in. But i don't think it is that I beleave it is a lifter, becuase it got worse when iI put in that bullshit Lucas oil Treatment in. Worst mistake ever. That is why I am having to build a new motor. I am wondering if anyone has done this cam upgrade and what kind of horse power and torque increase over stock motor. More to come on this engine.
