Newbie Trucker From Tampa Bay FL.
Hi Guys! Found this site yesterday and was very inpressed with all the words of knowledge to so many guys with questions about their trucks. Very cool! So I joined. And guess what? I do have a project coming up in the near future with my 1996 GMC sierra that right now has a 4.3 standard 5 speed stick shift. I'm in the process of building a 4 bolt main roller motor with vortex heads. I still don't know if I'm to go with a simple carberator set up or a F.I. set up. I am on a tight budget right now and I want good fuel mileage because this truck will still be my daily driver and will be used to haul material and tow my boat from time to time. The 4.3 is ok if the truck is empty but when I load it down it's a dog. Now I do have a 1969 elcamino big block with a 4 speed but it is built to haul ass not material and it does do it's job, Anyway, I will need some words of wisdom on this future project on what I can use and what needs to be replaced. Thanks guys! Keep on truck'n.
