Thread: Casting number for the 4.8 heads

    I got a 2001 Sierra with the 4.8 .. Are the heads the same as the 5.3 ?? What is the casting numbers??

    The 4.8 and 5.3 have the same head. I believe there are two casting numbers: 852 and 706

    Thanks man!! I am thinking about getting an Ls1 for my truck and wnated to know if I used the haeds if it would raise the compression...

    It will raise your compression with 5.3 heads on a 5.7 but I think the valves are smaller than the LS1 heads. Mine are casting no 241 and I think the LS6 heads are no 243.

    Yea, it will raise the compression close to 10:8.
