    1993 Silverado 5.3 swap

Hey guys i am helping a friend put a new motor in his truck and he wants to do the 5.3 swap the ls1 is to expensive...

But i have alot of questions an i read the whole OBS LSX swap sticky.

    1) I know i need motor mounts it was originally a v6 where can i buy motor mounts from??

    2) In the sticky it say to remove the bed of the truck can i just drop the gas tank from the bottom and do this? Also will the fuel pump asembley include everything i need to intall it? Which kit sould i use?

    3) I dont know which style of fuel rail i should use ether a returnless fuel rail or a return style? Which one is easier? lol

    4) Also i was wondering if anyone new a good write up on how to install a PCM and wiring harness in OBS style trucks im new at wiring...

Well sorry about all these questions im just really new to the obs style truck just always worked on nbs. So far we have removed the little v6 out which had a bad knock. And thats it... lol oh yea and one more question will the the transmission in the truck bolt up to the 5.3?

    Thanks, Brandon

get the rubber mounts that bolt to the frame. They came on V8 trucks such as the K-code 350. The returnless fuel rail setup is very easy to setup. You can drop the tank but its so much easier to lift or remove the bed with the engine hoist while you have it. Using a stock 5.3 harness will require modification. I hope you're up to snuff on wiring and reading schematics.

The trans will bolt up but you'll need the flywheel spacer, bolts and flat flexplate from a 99-2000 6L. Or a custom built torque converter.

All right so to fit my 5.3 in the truck all i need are the 350 k code rubber mounts. And the pre 1999 cups that bolt to the side of the engine. Thats all i need? no adapter plates? Just dont want to find out that the engine doesnt fit because i missed something. Thanks

I did i just read this

The cups should have three holes to bolt them to the adapter plates. The bottom one will use a metric bolt, the two top ones you will have to check to make sure if they are metric or SAE. One thing I do to help the cups sit best on the adapters is to either to flatten or remove the raised section that mates to the adapter plates.

I was just wondering what are the adapter plates?

Yes, you also need the adapter plates that are flat plates that bolt to the block. You can make them yourself from dimensions provided here on this site, buy them from places like Street & Performance, or buy them on E-Bay, etc... The cups bolt to the adapter plates. The frame mounts bolt to the cups. I did mine completely differently than most people. I retained my original 4.3 V-6 frame mounts & fabricated a flat steel plate that bolted to the engine, that came forward just far enough to allow me to weld on two tabs that reached down to meet the frame mount. Each of these tabs had a hole near the bottom, so a bolt could slide through them and the frame mount. Simple. This allowed me to put the engine/transmission as low as possible, and as far back as possible. The front of my engine is barely past my frame crossmember. Great center of gravity this way, just what I was after.
