    Question on Theftlock

Ok guys...swallowing pride (I'm an auto electric rebuilder)

I went to Audio Specialties today (local sound shop) and was about to buy a new head unit. As I was at the counter they tried to hit me with $250 over the cost of the radio...I was like "umm...bulls**t" They then told me I needed a $150 "magicbox" and a $100 wiring harness to hook it up in my truck. I ask what the so called "magicbox" was and they told me..."since you have a theft lock radio you have to have this box to retain your keyless entry and full usage of your airbags" Do I have to buy this "magicbox" or were they just trying to sell me a $150 plastic box ... I’ve got a place that I can buy a harness to hook up the radio to the stock ports for $8. Is that all I need or do I have to buy this "magicbox"

The theftlock is in the OEM radio only. It is not a ghost in the truck. The airbags have nothing to do with the radio in an 01 or any other current GM truck.

Please post the exact name of the idiots that tried to ROB you.

Will the keyless entry still work? this is all I ever needed in any other truck...i thought it was with these trucks also...

Audio Specalties in Western KY...I should have known better... I see alot of there work, selling people who dont know any better 3 and 4 "stinger" batterys at $300 a pop (if the alternator wont keep up one battery whats 2 more gonna do)and then putting them a "stinger" alternator on that is "HO" but on our test bench only put out 135 amps. I build alternators that put that out at idle at half the price!

btw I think the guys name that runs it name is ROB
