    Unhappy

Well, my LS1 search has turned up nothing right now. I am still saving money right now and the temptation of an LT1 is killing me. Is it also just as easy to do an lt1 swap? For example, same acessories, intake ,etc...? Will all the truck accessories bolt on to an lt1? The reason I am asking this question is because I have found many LT1's for very cheap, complete as well. I know everyone is going to tell me to stick with an ls1 especially Allen. I want to hear everyone's opinion on this one, thanks in advance.

no accesories from your truck will work with an LT1. totally different motor. they are modded easliy and respond nicely, but the LS1 starts out with more power, more mpg, and if you start out with more power, each mod you do will unleash more power, stick with the LS1

i dont know if the 4L60E is the same as the t56 but the LS1 style trannys(t56's) have one extra bolt hole at the top of the bellhousing...not sure if the 4L60e has that extra hole? if it doesnt you'd need a pre-98 4l60e im guessin

have you checked ebay for LS1's? they are usually all over the place

Basically the ls1 nets more power now. Finding one takes some searching, but you'd have to mod a lt1 to get to ls1's stock power. Making the 2 about the same in price (depending what was paid).

For the tranny's.. you can use the newer t-56's on an lt1, that hole just stays a hole.

Check out hpsalvage.. i think their site is www.hpsalvage.com and see what he says.

What exactly do you plan to do ? If i was you and you go for boost take your stock motor and bore it out to 3.905 and put some good pistons in it and rods and you will have a stout motor for nothing. You can also do the same with N20 but you might want a bigger motor.

1500 nailed it, to put an lt1 in your truck, you'll have to mod what you've already got. nothing is compatible with the lt1, on your truck that is.
if you go procharger or boost, say bye bye to your gas mileage, if you go nos, you don't have the power on tap, you always have to fill the bottle and it's all go or none, with the ls1 swap, you'll have great gas mileage, awesome power on tap, and you'll still be just as fast as the other two, of course with a cam or so.

to swap out your engine, all you need is the longblock (i know you know already) ,

if you go with a built 5.3L, you still have less cubes, and how much are you going to have to mod that 5.3L to get an extra 70hp out of it.
you start off with more power going with the ls1,

good luck and i can't wait to see it run,

    allen
