    New From Louisiana

I have a 2000 Silverado with 72K on it. 5.3L with an Airraid intake, Hypertech, and Magnaflow exhaust. I plan to upgrade more, possibly a supercharger. I am going to buy some Pacesetter Full length headers with the y-pipe. I was wondering if they are a true bolt on with no modification to the exhaust. I know they get rid of the cats but does the pipe take the place of the cats? What about the O2 sensors? Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Keith

Welcome where at in La? The Pacesetter ORY (off-road y-pipe) bolts on in place of your stock cats/y-pipe and bolts right to the rest of your cat-back or stock exhaust. O2 bungs are welded into the headers, just need to transfer your sensor(s) over. It's pretty much a direct bolt-in piece, other than welding the sections of the ORY together. LT's are a great beginning mod for that tire smoking torque

Welcome to the site man! Yeah, LT's need some welding work, or if you would like, use the supplied band clamps to secure the y-pipe. The ORY will clamp to the collectors of the headers and then bolt up to the socket joint where it meets the catback. While you are off modding, set your programmer back to stock and sell that Hypercrap. With the proceeds, do yourself a HUGE favor and get a custom PCM tune. You'll thank me!

Yeah I planned on selling the Hyper for a custom tune. I may try to go supercharger with the headers if I can get one cheap enough. I'd like to get as much power for the money. I'd like to just do bolt ons but I can install a cam or heads. I just wanted to leave the tranny alone and not have to put a convertor in it. What is the best power mod for the money besides a tune? Super? Turbo? Heads/cam? Thanks for the help.

Bah-ahaha..you want to leave the tranny alone... Suuuuuuuuuuure! That is the first thing to go BOOM once you start putting decnt power behind it. I would do a cam first after the headers. Once you get the custom tune, you can have the rear O2's disabled and it will not throw a CEL.

    Thumbs up

I bought the Pacesetter long tube headers and y-pipe and mine bolted right up! No welding or custom making anything!

I'm trying to keep the mods kind of simple money wise. I don't want to get out of control but I do know that the trans wouldn't last very long with a lot of power. I guess I would take it easy on it until I had some more cash to upgrade. I wonder how much it would cost to buy a 4l80e from a junkyard. Has anyone ever done this? What about swapping in an HD rear with 4.10s and a lsd?
