I'm wondering what kind of mileage other LS1 conversions are getting . I have a 98 LS1 with no Nelson tune as yet in my 94 half ton . She still has the stock gears which I think are 3: 08 and a 4L60 tranny . I went up to north Mississippi this weekend to look at a house and topped off with 93 octane before I left. I'm figuring pretty close to 20 mpg and that was running the a/c most of the way and cruising at about 75mph with the occasional burst up to 90 . Does this sound right and would a Nelson tune improve the mileage ? I was really thinking I'd get closer to 22mpg . I was also amazed at gas prices up there . I paid $2.76 for premium up there versus $3.19 down here in N.O. Thanks

That's really good MPG you're getting there. I got 18 MPG with 3.42s in my xcab. You must have been running downhill most of the way, considering the elevation change from Northern Miss to sea level.

    I can't speak for LS1s, but my 5.3 is averagin 18s @ 70mph. I'm so low b/c I'm running 4.10s, and seems my TCC isn't locking up.

Actually I haven't topped off since returning (which would be coming downhill&#33 - I only calculated that figure when topping off in again in N. Miss. , Red . So you think this is about right then ? I know it's not bad and it's sure a hell of a lot better than that 4.3 pos used to get which was around 17 on the highway . Thanks for the feedback . Jim

You had a 4.3L too? Me too! As long as I go easy on the long, skinny pedal, I've averaged 18mpg w/ 4.10s. Of course, that was hard as hell, and I've got in it once or twice. I've filled up once, and took a 100mi (round trip) to work and back home, "hot-dogged" the whole time, and refused to do the calcs b/c I was below a half-tank (nearly at 1/4) when I got back home.

That's fantastic mileage for an engine pusing 4: 10 gears . I've got to admit that whenever you post these days C10 that I'd rather stare at your avatar then read what you're typing ! If that's your girlfriend then I'm jealous! What is she saying anyway ? More ?

LOL... ok! Guess I'll have to find something better or remove this from the board due to distraction.
