Help!! Clutch pedal hard as a rock on ls1 c1500 5 speed

So I was bleeding my clutch today and when I was. pumping the pedal it got stiff. I told my friend to bleed it and it got soft but as soon as he tightened the nut and I started to pump it, it got stiff as a rock again. What could it be? Slave cylinder is new, would i need to shim it? Feels like the slave is long thanks!

Make sure the connections are pushed in tight and locked! If the line to the slave is not snapped in good to the slave it will be hard like u explained! Good luck!
