new from Nebraska, Omaha to be exact

    whats going on guys?
Im new to the site, found this site yesterday and havent been able to stay off if it since, lol
ive got a 00 sierra. picked up a bone yard 5.3 last week, planns are to build a 76mm turbo setup. short block will be stock (just pulled apart and cleaned up) ive also got a set of 317 heads,ls9 gaskets goin on it,cam. debating to use a mail order tune.. or using a local but probably a little less experinced dyno tuner handle to job. right now im just stock piling all my parts, as id like to have the truck down as little as possible. but any how, jsut wanted to introduce myself. any one else from Omaha? or Ne for that matter?

welcome, if your going to pull the engine down, go ahead and file fit the rings so it will live with the boost. And I would take a mail order tune from Nelson performance over a less experienced tuner. Good luck

The best advice I have ever heard:... Only take B( . Y . )ST advice from someone that is CURRENTLY running a turbo setup close to, or bigger than what you want......

thanks, yeah i was leaning more towards the nelson tune.. only reason im hesitant is mailing back and forth to get everything dialed in all the way. this will be my first "turbo" build.

Send me over a PM when you get closer. There are other options other than the typical mail order tuning.

If it were me I wouldnt use the 317 heads. Yes they will lower compression so you can run more boost, but that will make the truck much more of a dog out of boost. Maybe port them and mill them to try and keep the compression fairly decent. But thats all up to you.

I have family in Lincoln and Milligan. My wife is orignially from Seward but moved to AZ when she was in junior high.
