a guy at work has a 2008 chevy truck with the 4.8 that i've pestering him until he finally got a cam, stall and some longtubes. i tried to pick the stuff for him and get him a tr224 cam and a nice converter and headers and have Nelson tune it, but he wanted it all to be done by the dealer and had them put in a gm hotcam and whatever stall and longtubes they have i guess and they had some guy remote tune it from another dealership.
it sounds great.... BUT it still has no ass off the line and it takes till almost 3rd gear until it really starts to pull, i assumed it was traction control or TM we looked all over his truck and never found a traction control button to turn it off. i figured they could turn it off in the tune or down or something so it wasnt such a slug off the line.
he went and talked with them and they told him "you cant turn off the traction control without loosing abs" and that he had to pull a fuse to get it to work, so they are making him a little switch that pretty much kills the power to the traction control so his truck will have some guts when he punchs it.
does this sound legit? i know plenty of people have these trucks running great times and whatever and i cant really believe this is how its done, i think the dealership is just stupid.
can anyone confirm this mess?
