    Tire width

Hey there. Hope I'm posting this in the right section, newbie here, so if not, apologies ;-)

I have a 2wd '03 Sierra and I'd like to put some wider tires on it. I have a 6 lug wheel but I don't know the width of it. I would like to know how wide a tire I can go with that will fit on the rim and not rub when I turn the wheels to full lock. Anyone know?

It's a 7'' wheel. I run 275/60/17's. About 10" worth of tire on the pavement.

He was looking for width of the rim, but you are right, it should be 16" diameter. 7" width sounds right to me as well (but I'm no expert on this).

Just put 285/50/20s on mine with no rub. Love the Yokohama Spec-Xs.

Currently running 285-75-16 on a 16x8 Mickey Thompson rim with the simulated beadlock on it with a mildly aggressive tread tire. You mentioned you have the 2wd and not the 4wd. Not sure if rim size makes that much differance in regards to clearance between the top of the tire and the fender. My rims are shot and in need of restoration but, have NOT had any rubbing issues other than the mud flaps and the tires making contact at FULL lock either to the right or left. Been wheeling up at my property and down some pretty rough stuff and have yet to fubar a fender from the tire hitting the bottom or sides of the fenders.
