    1988-1998 LSX swap info

I totaled my '99 camaro but didn't hurt the drivetrain at all. How hard would it be to swap my engine and trans into the OBS trucks? I obviously have the entire harness and computer from the LS1 as well as a racetronix fuel pump I can pull from the tank. This motor had 9k miles on it when I bought the car and I didn't put another 4k on it. It has LS6 heads a Vinci truck cam and an LS6 intake as well as a fully built 4l60 with a SSF stall. It was a high 11s setup in the car so it should be a low 12s setup in the truck right?

It will take some work, but it is really not too hard to do. Also at the top of this http://www.ls1truck.com/forums/lsx-truck-conversions/ there are three stickies that will really help you out. Lots of good info. What year GMT-400 are you going to install the LS1 in?

Well I was looking at a clean '91 but found a super clean 1996 V6 RCSB S-10 for $500 ON MY STREET! HAHAHA It's litterally four houses down and interior and exterior are perfect. The 4.3 runs but is a bit rough. I did some readin at CPWs site and I can get the LS1 harness modded for $450 and since it is a '96 and up the LS1 computer will run everything in the truck alone. No need for both PCMs! I'm probably going to get their poly mounts and headers since they are known to work. Should have around $2k plus my drivetrain in it when I'm done.

i got my harnees reworked from nelson performance for the same price, but they went out of there way and got me the connectors that were missing (on gen4 motors theres some type of connector that sends comm to the odb2 connector, got that for me no charge). when i got the harness back, i connected it and truck fired right up, saved me the headaches if i would have done it myself...

OMG! Where's the rest of my truck!

looking good. I like the nice clean frame. Makes me want to puke when I look at my truck's rusty old frame.

Me too! This thing had a turd brown rust color all over it. I pressure washed it and painted it with Krylon Rust Tough Enamel in semi-flat black. A lot of people kept telling me to use POR-15 but I couldn't stomach the price honestly. This stuff was $6/can and only took 2 to do the whole frame. It seems to be very durable too!

Thanks! I got a little more done today but I had to change the oil in my wifes car and swap out the throttle body shaft so the cruise would work. Her grandpa broke off the pin that held the cruise wire to the throttle body so I picked up another one from the pick-n-pull and changed it out...works like a champ. I really hate these Sanderson shortie headers but I don't have anymore money to sink into this right now. I'm thinking about cutting the collector off where it merges and welding on 3" pipe...2 1/2 just doesn't cut it for me...
