    hi stepside,

I just did this swap on a 1994 Z-71. Here are my suggestions,,,

Buy a 5.3 or 6.0 Vortec engine from a salvage yard and get the wiring harness, computer, accelerator pedaland wiring and module if DBW, and any and everything connected to the engine.

Buy a book or two about these swaps... I have the "How to swap GM LS series engines" and also the GM "LS1 engine kit installation guide" book that can be ordered from the dealer... #88959384

Contact someone in your area that does these swaps.

Read every post on this web-site that deals with these conversions... It will take about 15 hours... take notes about things that are specific to your vehicle.

Your oil pressure, volt meter, water temp and Fuel gauge will work and will use your existing wiring. You will need to connect the original wire to the appropriate sending unit. The Tach wire will possible need a resistor install inline on the wire... depends on year model of the PCM.

Your tranny will bolt up but will need an adapter kit for the flexplate.

This web-site is a Gold Mine of information... you just need to dig around a little to find eveything that applies to your truck and engine combo.

    Good Luck,

    Z-Rod
