newb from MD, OH or Navy take your pick

    Hello all,

Coming over from PT.net to check out what info I can get for my swap. Going from a 4.8 to a 6.0 in my 2004 GMC RCSB RST. Few things I know "Search Button" lol. Know I'll need a flashed PCM, which sucks because I just had mine tuned for my 4.8. Planning on using the current 5-speed in the truck until the funds re-appear for a T-56 swap. I have found one other person running the 5-speed set up and it's holding up well for him.

As far as the big question is: What mileage does most of the engines your putting in have on them? Found a few with 60k that I find acceptable for the price so looking for opinions.

    Jim

First question is who did your tune? Some tuners give you free lifetime updates even if you swap up to a larger engine.

Blackbear. I don't know if he does with swaps. I haven't talked to him since I made the decision. Kinda looked at my budget and said why not. At this point I've already put $500 into the 4.8.

Can the swap be done in about 2 days?

I would say no unless you have a lot of friends to help.

Just one. I'll be home on leave with nothing else to do but work on it. I'm betting a week should cover it.

It may be able to be done in two days with 2-3 buddies. You'd have to work 10 hour days though at least.

Engine swap in 2 days should be cake if you have everything ready to go. Especially since you aren't working with a 4x4. You already have a V8 it will be easy.
