    converter questions

I just installed a 2600 rpm stall converter in my 4l65e and have a few questions. The truck shifts alot softer from 1st to second, do I need Nelson to retune to correct? Also I didn't buy enough Dexron 3 and had to use Ford motorcraft Mercon V to finish filling(both non synthetic). About 13 quarts was needed because of my 2 quart extra deep pan, 5 of which were the Mercon V. Are they compatible with each other or do I need to drain and refill? From looking at the back of the cans they looked compatible with one another, just one is Fords name and the other is GM's version. Please help!!!!!! I don't trust the idiots at the auto parts stores!!!!!

there is reason it calls for dexron 3
    i run dexron 6
and yes. its going to shift softer. Especially at part throttle.

How did you like the 2600?

Anyone else have any opinions on the fluid?? I just hate to drain out 8 quarts of fluid for nothing. Everything I search on the net shows compatibility????????

Also what about the tune, does it need to be altered for the converter????? So far I like it, but I did have the battery unhooked for over a day so maybe it just needs some heat cycles to adjust???

if you would drain fluid you would have to do a entire flush since you just dont drain out what you installed. its already mixed

its a old trick ppl used to do and run the chryster or ford stuff. i wouldnt but some say its along the lines of using that B&M trick shift stuff.

also a stall will always soften the shift

I wouldn't worry about a lil merc 5 in there. Its supposed to be backwords compatible with merc 3. And merc 3 is like dex3.

It takes more revs to get around town, but when you jump on it the power comes on at a higher rpm. I think my computer still has a little learning to do, but so far so good. I don't think a stall is as evident on a bigger 4x4 as it would be on a 2 wheel drive. I need a cam!!!!!
