Thought I'd add a few pics of tonight's progress.

Nice shiny clean pistons with new rings on them.

Torquing the main bearing caps after I put the crankshaft in.

    In go the pistons!

are you keeping the nv3500 or going with a beefier trans?
00 FRC - just top end, exhaust, and a hot-air intake
    99 Sierra - 5.3 / 5spd

I'm playing that game you call "how much LANGUAGE!!!! can this thing take?" game with the trans and the rear end. Don't think they'll take too much with 155K on them.

well, i talked to a guy from Joe Gibbs today & he said the S/C 4.8 pickups used a stock trans with 425lb-ft and the only issue they had was the same crappy 2-3 shift we all hate.

i'd say yours will make a bit more than that, but at least there's a little reassurance.

Yep, a T-56 will replace the 3500 when it blows.

No updated pics, but I now have the heads and intake. Got the intake painted black and the block is painted orange, it looks so sexy.

    UPDATE!

Cam is in, everything is bolted together except the heads and intake. Gotta swap valve springs, they should be here early this week. All I need to do now is order the CTS-V accessory drive and Clutch Kit/Flywheel. Nelson Performance PCM is here, got the wiring harness.

Not sure if I'm gonna put the turbo in right away. Considering it's still winter I'm gonna need all the traction I can get. It's gonna be crazy enough just on motor. Gotta get used to some actual horsepower, then the turbo will get bolted on early summer.

Swap is going to take place next weekend or the weekend after, depending what parts show up when, etc.

Oh, I also put a General Lee airhorn in it.
