Finally got rid of the mtx junk in my doors.

I went to my old employer and bought a set of d6 convertibles. I LOVE THE HELL out of them. I was kinda surprised how shoddy the original install was with how picky the original owner is. There was no crossover installed for the mtx components, along with the tweeter and woofer wired directly to the factory wiring. No wonder the old tweets didn't work. Now that I have done what I do, the system is done right and sounds right.

Sticky/broken gauges? I can help. PM me for details.

sorry, lazy. I was just needing to vent about the terrible previous install. I need to pull the crossovers and turn the tweets down anyway so i will snap a couple then. There really isn't much to show, I wired into the factory tweeter wire so removing the door panel later would be easier. I hooked into the input at the door harness, other than that there is only one new group of wires that go from the crossover down to the door harness. I also need to dynamat the doors but that will be a bit later.

I appreciate the offer man. I gotta get the mat first. I've spent too much already on Christmas or I would get enough for the whole truck and take you up on it. I've usually got the beer covered anyway so no worries there.

I was thinking of getting these pics but after switching wheels I came to conclude that it is too stinking cold to mess with it. So here is what I propose; let's use our imagination and memory. All of my wiring blends in with the factory wiring, the tweeters are mounted in the factory location using what is left of the factory tweeter, they also hook up to the factory tweeter wire which goes to the crossover. The crossover is mounted inside the door(yes I'm lazy and no I've never had a return done this way) directly above the inner-brace directly under the side view mirrors. I might not feel as cold tomorrow so I might try and snap a pic to give a better idea.

    Painted perfectly.

I refuse to do mat without a large case of beer. I usually pass out somewhere in the floor of the truck after about 3 hours... but then again, it's usually 110 degrees when I do it.

I hear ya, it's never very fun but the pay off is worth it in the end.

The MTX's were probably pretty good if they had been installed correctly. Whoever did the install didn't use crossovers, they just hooked everything to factory wiring(it looked like a circuit city job). The tweeters didn't work at all(thanks to having full range to them). Basically a shoddy install turned a nice component set into a full range speaker.
