    another ls6 cam thread

Alright guys coming up into some cash, not really looking for my truck to be outrageous becasue its my daily and i have a project coming up on the side.

I would like to know what kinda gains im looking at when adding a ls6 cam springs and rods to a 04 4.8 also a tune.

Would i be able to run the truck for a month or so until a upcoming meet to get my truck tuned?

If ur gonna swap ur cam at all, plan for any potential future mods. Basically if you think ur gonna boost it, swap in a "forced induction friendly cam". If u know for sure ur gonna stay N/A, go as big and lopy as you want.

~ Forged engine of some type ~ Ball bearing turbo of an unconfirmed size ~ 4L8000 trans ~ Beefy fuel system ~

I disagree. People don't always stick to their plans. Never in a million years did I expect to turbo my truck 3 years ago, and now I'm $3500 deep in turbo parts.

Buy modifications based on what your current plans are. If you think you might boost it in the future, then go with an n/a cam now and a forced induction cam later.

It doesn't take much time to swap a cam once you have done it.

With just the cam, you would see about a 25 HP increase up top. But you would lose HP down low. It would be a little sluggish in day-to-day driving. A tune would probably add another 20-25 HP, but it won't help the loss of lower-RPM torque due to the cam.

Completely agree with Madd Maxx, too agressive of a cam will always reduce torque and hp numbers more than likely up to 2500 rpm. From there on up to red line you will see an increase in both. If you really wanna keep it daily driver, and you use it on the street alot, select a cam designed for low to mid range power. It almost always seems foolish to go with a smaller cam than the larger ones available, but you will thank yourself when your truck has the cam AND it gets out of it's own way on the street.

probably just keep it stock then, cant afford a 300 dollar cam plus springs and rods then another 300 tune and 300 stall to keep up with it.
