Ls1 Conversion in a ford truck

Do you guys know if its possable to transplant one of the ls1 engines and transmisson's down into a 1994 Ford F150 extended Cab 4x4. I got a truck i am restoring and it means alot to me and my wife but i am checking all my options out before i buy another engine to replace the 302 that has went south. I know i am going to get alot of crap because its a ford but i am asking because i want to keep my truck for a long time and i know that these ls1 engines have a fantastic reputation for providing horsepower and better fuel economy. thanks in advance for the advice.

and no crap about the ford as long as it ends up with a chevy motor!!

As Nike says "Just Do It" Get a simplified custom harness and it will be a simple swap.
See my truck data in the "My Garage" section here... http://www.ls1truck.com/forums/my-ga...tml#post191709

When my wife and i got married My father in law drove this truck to our wedding bringing my wife with him and after he passed he left it to me. so we both are pretty attached to it. thanks for the advice

You can get the harness from Painless or Nelson. I suggest Nelson. You'll of course need the PCM and such from the LS based engine, and I suggest going with a 4L80e instead of the 60 that will be mated to the majority of LS engines.

If its electric, you can do it surely. Should all be in the PCM.

Just swap in a entire motor/tranny/t-case set up. If you run a manual NP 241 or electronic NP 246 you will have a drivers side front drop. Which is what you have. Then you will have a VSS from the t-case to run the PCM but maintain your rear axle sensor to operate your speedo.

sounds good i am still looking into it. I am getting alot of grief over the whole chevy in a ford thing from my wife's brother but the simple truth is that a Chevy engine and tranny are bulletproof and they get Great Gas Mileage. Her brother even tried to sell me a 351w to replace the 302 with but i know from personal experience that a 351w is a GAS HOG.

I cringed when you said the trannies are bulletproof. An 80 or an Allison, yes, they can be built almost bulletproof. A 4l60e? I laughed a little.
