    Talking Decided on my 5.3cam tell me what you guys think

    Well i found this fancy program on comp cams web site called Canquest. Lets you put in info about your ride such as truck, weight, purpose to be used for, motor and some other things and this program is free to download. SO after punching in some number here is the cam im going to get for my lil 5.3

    Comp XER273HR

    intake duration = 224
    exhaust duration = 230

    Intake lift = 581
    Exhaust lift = 588

    LSA = 114

    i also think this cam will work well with spray because of the lsa and the extra lift and duration on the exhaust side...... Smart asses chime in here

    That's pretty big. What stall are you going to run and how much juice? Iwould think at least a 3200. Is it going to be a daily driver?

    The wider LSA should help with some of the dynamic compression you will loose going with that much duration.

    probally get a 3k or 3200 stall with a 150shot Not a daily driver. I just drive it when i feel like it.. Waiting to put a trans and converter in it first, then cam, headers, and tune. Just getting everything dialed in and make sure i have a complete game plan........

    I think that cam will be a really nice choice!......I have a 228/230 585/585 on a 112 and I can drive it anywhere with absolutely no issues. If you read some of my recent post you will see that I just drove it on a 1,600mile trip and got 20.6mpg. I have a 3000 vigilante in mine that stalls about 3500....works real nice! I would say you will be very happy with it.

    I also have a camaro SS and it has a similar cam in it....it is a 224/227 563/568 on a 114 and I really like the performance and drivability. Secret is in a good tune. I hated the SS cuz it is a six speed until I got a good tuner on it...now it drives like factory!

    ill get Allen to do a mail order tune on it then drive it down for a live tune later on. Once the juice goes on then i would take it back again for a live tune. I dont wanna cook anything on B like jeff and come back with no spark plugs
