Well fellas it seems I have a bit of a dillema on my hands. I can't decide which torque converter to get. This is gonna be used on my 2006 K1500 crew cab 6.0 with a radix. I plan on running a FLT level 5 4L70E behind this as well. After I get the trans in I am gonna pulley down some and get a street and dyno tune from Nelson Performance in San Antonio. I do tow from time to time with this truck. Anywhere from 2-4k and 5-8k on rare occasion. So it needs a converter than can still handle the stress of towing and not be too loose and have problems towing. I am also gonna get a big tranny cooler to keep the temps down. The truck currently has 265/70/17 bfg all terrains and 4.10 gears. I have been doing alot of research on the subject reading up on old threads on here.

So far its between the Vigilanti 10.5" lock-up Multi- Disc 3 plate 2400-6000 RPM's http://www.converter.com/vigilante.htm If i was to get this converter it would more than likey be a 2400 or 2600 stall. I e-mailed Precision Industries earlier and asked them what they thought, waiting on a reply from them.

Also, I emailed yank and told them what I have planned for the truck and that I do tow. They recomended the Yank SC3000 for me. A few people are running the Yank SC2800, would that be ok for towing? Does yank make a SC2600 or SC2400? I just think a 3000 stall would be a little high to use with a roots type blower. Here is the link to the yank converters: http://www.converter.cc/converters/truck/truck_main.htm

From reading up on old threads on different sites, it seems the SC yank series converters are a little looser than the Vigilanti ones. It also seems you want a bigger converter if your gonna tow so a 9.5" would be outta the question. There are also a few people that say to stick with the stock converter. Would this be a wise idea, or would I just end up blowing up my new trans? Thanks for all the input/help guys.

Vig said that their converter wasn't really a towing converter and only light loads if any. So I guess that ones out the window. I e-mailed them back and asked them if they had one more for what I need. I also e-mailed yank and asked them about the SC2800 and SC2600. Waiting on a response from them. I am still curious as to how the stocker would do. I can brake stall the stocker to around 2200 in 4wd with the blower at 1-2PSI.

I am running a 2600 Vig. I don't have any problems towing heavy loads.
I ordered mine through FLT. Chuck had it speced out for turbo use.
Get ahold of Chuck @ FLT and get his knowledge on this.

Ahh sweet. That sounds like that will work perfect for me. Rarely do I tow more than that. Thanks man!

Well fellas I ended up talking to Chuck from FLT and me and him discussed my truck and what I have planned for it and he recommended a stock conveter with an anti-balooning plate. I will run this combo and see where it gets me. I figure if I want more stall later on down the road I can swap it out to a 2600. So thats what I ended up getting for $295. So now its time to play the waiting game for the trans and conveter to show up. He said they were about three weeks out.
