    upgrading 4L60E on STS turbo truck,need info

    ok well im going to upgrade my 4L60E on my 06 silverado 4.8 with the STS turbo kit, im looking for more info and what exactly i need and wich parts and brands to get . im not really to good at transmissions so please inlighten me please with knowledge
    06 silverado crew cab 4.8L
    STS Kit W/turbonetics BB 60-1 .81AR T4 and intercooler 10psi
    Nelson custom tune
    built 4L60E-hopefully it lasts
    2500 stall-Hughes converters
    42LB injectors
    3.5 Magnaflow exhuast
    6inch lift on 35x12.50s

    Save your money and do an 80e swap....trust me. I've been through 3 65e's and if I had it to do all over again, I would save the hassle and go with the 80.

    X2, I'm on my fourth 60/65E. When this one goes, I might get it fixed one more time, but after that I'm going to an 80E.

    well im kind of on a budget, what would it cost to do the 80E conversion?
    theres is a local guy who ive heard is very good with the 4l60e trannys ,heres is what he priced me and the parts he said, this is his email he sent to me,
    Our competition level 1 uses the upgraded clutches, raybestos z pak kit replaces the weak 6 clutch third and fourth stock clutch pack, the beast sun shell, corvette servo , wider than stock kevlar band and I do my own shift kit and block pistons that cushion the stock shifts. The comp level 1 is priced at $800 with a 6 month warranty on a carry out, but with full job with removal and installation you get a 1 year warranty. The full job with a 2500 stall converter , fluids and everything would be $1450


    is that any good ?the price seems fair

    Ur lifted 2wd right? 80e will be alot cheaper than a 4wd

    yes my truck is 2wd,what would be the difference in the 80e install? crossmember and what else,

    For 2wd you need the crossmember modified, harness, retune, trans, flywheel and spacer, yoke and u joint possibly drive shaft...idk on a Crew Cab

    For 4wd you would also need many other expensive parts

    As far as price that doesn't sound bad, but if you are making big power you may need more than a level 1.

    It seems like a good price but here's the thing, it comes with a warranty which is good but if something breaks, you have down time while they pull it out, fix it and re-install. You may not be out any money, but if you are like me, any time not driving my truck sucks!

    You'll hear a lot of people tell you that these transmissions don't do well on heavy trucks with a lot of power, even if they are "built". Say you spend $1450 now and in a year you turn up the boost (you know you will ), and boom there it goes. Then you ahve to pay to have it rebuilt or buy a new one. Either way, you are having to spend money again on something that could be taken care of the first time around.

    The 80e is much stronger stock than most 60/65's are fully built. I know it seems like a pita to do the swap but I think you would be much better off knowing that you don't have to worry about it if you crank up the boost.

    I like the 4l60... you can build them pretty reasonble.. just dont invest in all the billet stuff... I have a 600+Hp procharger truck with a 4l60 its TONS of fun to drive on the street.. Depends on the driver.... and the tune.... TRANSMISSION tune... not the engine...
