Im planning doing a lq9 swap in my 94 chevy z71 and was wondering if it is even worth putting on a sts turbo with 5psi/no intercooler. My problem is that i cant use an intercooler because my truck spends alot of time offroad as well as onroad and i dont want a intercooler under my bumper.(wouldnt last very long) So is it even worth messing with a turbo or not?

if you do alot of offroading- deep mud, I would suggest going with a magnacharger.

SAME AS FOGGY SAID. SC THAT BAD BOY IF YOUR OFF ROAD'IN. USE A WATER TO WATER INTERCOOLER BY THE MOTOR OR UNDER THE RADIX. THEN MUD ALL YOU WANT. IT WILL HAVE TONS OF LOW END TORQUE. JUST WHAT YOU NEED FOR MUDD'IN.

I would go with the magna anyway, you might make more out of a turbo in the long run. But the magna put me in the 12's, which is more than I need on my DD

If i use the magnacharger what cam should i use? I want the most power gain and i like the deep loping sound from a bad ass cam.

NOT THE VORTEC. If you go centrifugal go Procharger. I have a whipple and love it. Don't forget radix

I would recommend a Radix with a cam similar to the Ligenfelter GT2-3. It is a proven combo, and will work well for your application.
Gone, but not forgotten!
