got a buddy interested in my 5.3. he will be putting it in place of his 4.3...heres what im including.

5.3 longblock...intake to oilpan. injectors throttle body plugs wires everything. all front accessory brackets. factory exhaust manifolds and factory catted Y pipe. also giving him the v8 fan shroud. the motor will have around 56000 miles on it when i pull it and im selling all of this for 800. does that sound fair?

im trying to get a list together of what extra parts he will need so theres no suprises. so far ive told him he will definately need a new wiring harness, computer and motor mounts.

what i need to know is will the v6 alt swap over to the v8 brackets. also need to know about the power steering, starter and any other little suprises that might come up.

old mod list: H/C/I/N/E/G 408
new mod list: 5.3, gears/posi, mufler and tune : (

Power Steering will be fine. Starter prob will no be fine(not sure). You will need new A/C lines, radiator hoses. Tranny Will work. He will have to get the some of the PINS on the pcm redone bc they are wired a little differently. Check the legth of the driveshaft, you dont want it bottoming out, although it should be fine. Other than that i think thats about it that I know of. I am probably forgeting some small stuff though.

I know that won't work (first hand knowledge). Bolt holes will not line up. The 4.3's are offset, and the 5.3's are in-line.

Question: If he's got a 4L60x, will the same bellhousing bolt to the 4.3 as well as the 5.3? Seems like I remember reading somewhere that this wasn't possible. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The 4L60E will bolt to the 5.3 from the 4.3. One bolt will not align but the rest will. You'll need the flywheel spacer and longer bolts. I hear that some V6s actually even had a 4L80E transmission. The spacer is available all over the place.

Oh really? Hmm... that's strange. If so, I wonder why?
